Enrolled in FedLoan?
Government investigations have revealed that Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency, better known as FedLoan – may have repeatedly placed borrowers enrolled in Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) or who have received TEACH Grants into costly forbearance without offering them more beneficial options. The Inspector General reviewed all monitoring reports the FSA produced from 2015 through most of 2017 and found that 61 percent showed evidence of servicer failures.
According to one review featured in NPR, PHEAA representatives failed to follow the rules in nearly 9 percent of interactions – more than five times the average failure rate of the other servicers that month.
If FedLoan forced you into forbearance (postponement of loan payments) as a result of its own paperwork delays or erroneous determinations, or if FedLoan converted your TEACH grant into a loan that must be repaid, Carlson Lynch would love to speak with you.
